The Prime Minister has spoken twice in recent days about Italy’s international position on the conflict in the Middle East and to explain the reasons for the justice reform that will be put to a referendum on 22 and 23 March. The opposition has described Italy’s position of neither supporting nor condemning the attack by Israel and the United States on Iran as “Pilate-like”. On the referendum, they warn against the government’s plan, which they say serves to control the judiciary.

Stock markets are suffering due to events in the Middle East and rising fuel prices in Italy: there are fears that the conflict will ultimately cost an extra percentage point in inflation.
