We need respect between institutions

For the first time in his 11-year term, President Mattarella decided to chair the ordinary session of the Superior Council of Magistrates. In recent days, the CSM, the self-governing body of judges, had been described as a “hotbed” with a “mafia-like” system by Justice Minister Nordio. The Head of State recalled the need for mutual respect between institutions. 

There have been heated discussions about Italy’s participation as an observer in Trump’s Board of Peace. The Foreign Minister defended the government’s decision in Parliament, which was harshly attacked by institutions that spoke of Italy’s “humiliation”. 

Paediatric heart surgeons are consulting on the case of a 2-year-old child who received a heart transplant that was damaged during transport. A decision must be made on whether the child can undergo further surgery. 

Estimates of the serious damage to the Sannazaro theatre in Naples, which burned down yesterday morning, have also arrived from Naples. It will take around €70 million to rebuild it.
