The case of the pardon granted to Nicole Minetti, who was convicted of aiding and abetting prostitution at Silvio Berlusconi’s Arcore dinner parties, is causing a political earthquake. The decision, which was reviewed by the Ministry of Justice and, prior to that, by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office, reached the Quirinale with a favourable recommendation and was signed by the Head of State. Now, however, a journalistic investigation by “Il Fatto Quotidiano” has uncovered that the grounds on which the pardon was requested and granted may not be true. Namely, the need to care for a seriously ill adopted child. The Quirinale has urgently requested further investigations, and the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office has announced that it has taken action, specifying that if new information emerges, the opinion could change. A political storm is inevitable, with the opposition parties united in calling for the resignation of Justice Minister Nordio.
